At an event dedicated to digital technologies, a car is presented, an unusual place, yet this presentation hides details that make the Future, at least one area of it, possible.
Before presenting this article I need to clarify some of my views about the Metaverse.
Yes, because we will talk about this very technology that is increasingly being launched by large groups of IT companies ( META in the front row ).
Technology I believe in up to a point; I would like to clarify, I strongly believe in the root of it, namely, the Blockchain and its emanations Token (find article here ) and Smart Contract.
Seeing a TV report on the presentation of the BMW DEE prototype, I had to change my mind about the feasibility and presentation of the Metaverse soon; upward estimates on the implementation and downward estimates on the date of full expansion. The BMW DEE showed us a Future around the corner, and, I tell you in advance also what could be the hotel room of the Future.

At CES 2023 in Las Vegas, the new BMW i Vision Dee was unveiled.
It is a mid-size electric sedan that anticipates the future design language of the BMW brand, Dee stands for Digital Emotional Experience.
So many new features that this zero-emission four-door, brings debut, the Head-Up display extends across the width of the windshield, offering a preview of what will happen from 2025, when the entire range of the NEUE KLASSE, will adopt this useful technology.

BMW and E INK color technology
A further evolution of what we have already seen on the spectacular iX Flow Featuring E INK unveiled last year at CES, an SUV capable of changing color, from black to white and vice versa, this year, this technology comes in a colorful guise, for the first time the vehicle’s exterior cladding is multicolored, entirely variable and individually configurable. It is an electronic card made by E INK, applied to the body, so up to 32 colors can be displayed.
BMW Group engineers were responsible for programming the animations and giving them a customized shape.
The e-ink technology used in even the most common commercial e-readers, here has been implemented to every organ of the car body almost giving it a personality connected to that of its owner. With incredible naturalness it is possible to automate many functions delegated to humans, and with even more ease an augmented reality could transport us into worlds other than the one we are driving through.
All in the safety of level 7 autonomous driving managed by 4 CPUs in series. Stuff you could only read about in Science Fiction magazines until 15 years ago.
The Habitacle of a Car and the Hotel Room.
Taking a leap into another sector, let’s try to imagine other scenarios. Let’s talk, then, about Tourism.
Let us assume that we carpet the four walls (including windows ) of a hotel room with e-ink panels, similar to those found in the BMW DEE. Anyone, could through tokens or paid services turn their hotel room into a meeting room; into a playground for their children; into the giant screen for showing a movie; into viewing the most favorite natural scenery and panorama.
The implementation of the Metaverse would become oversimplified and would give that same room an added value, precisely because of the possibility of customization offered.
In conclusion, BMW has shown us the Future not only of the automotive, but, of the entire Metaverse and not through bombastic announcements, but, through a natural transition from one Present to another Present.
